I grew up in rural Pennsylvania in a very conservative, loving Christian home. My childhood was one of being surrounded by loving family who had a heart for the Lord and desired to live for Him in all that they did with all that they knew. After graduating from high school, I obtained a bachelors degree from PennState University in Landscape Contracting. In between my junior and senior years of college I did an internship with a Dayton landscape firm, and while in the Dayton area, met Becky who would (after much arm twisting) become my wife. Through the process of college graduation and moving to the Dayton area, I realized that while I had been surrounded by Christianity all of my life I had never truly seen my personal sin as offensive to God or thought of myself as an enemy of God. The Lord used my relationship with Becky (a strong believer) to convict me of this and I gave my life to the Lord and submitted myself to His kingship and control soon after.
I entered the green industry as a landscape designer, moved firms and settled into a business partnership that I thought would see me to retirement. He gave us two wonderful children (Rhett and Halli) and we both became involved in leadership roles in Bible Study Fellowship International where we thought we would be involved for the long term. The Lord had other plans. He moved our family from our childhood church homes to Greenville Grace in the spring of 2007. I felt the call to the eldership and through much prayer and training, was confirmed by the body as an elder.
In early 2010, the elder team saw a need for an administrative pastor and asked if Becky and I would pray through considering undertaking the role. I made the move to full-time ministry in April of 2010. I can truly say that it has been a joy to serve the body of Grace in the role of pastor of Administration. To borrow the words of CJ Mahaney, “Ministry is hard work because it is heart work and Heart work is certainly hard work. It’s humbling work. But it’s necessary work because sin is always at work.”
It is a pleasure to be able to partner in the ministry with those that call Grace their home and join forces with them in the heart work of magnifying the fame of God to the world by increasing the fame of Christ. May God receive all the glory for all that is done here at 4805 SR 49S and beyond.
