TODAY’S TEXT : Genesis 43:1-45:15 | SERMON SERIES : IN THE BEGINNING
PREACHER : DANNY WRIGHT (Pastor of teaching)

To the family of Grace | Shaun King (our Pastor of Youth and Children) has accepted a position with a Darke County small business, and as such, will be stepping out of fully supported ministry. His last day of full-time ministry will be July 12. They are excited for what this new season will bring them and their family, and we as elders join them in that excitement. An email went out via the prayer chain and was posted to the church blog with more details and how you can pray for the Kings and Grace as we make this transition. If you have questions, or would like more information please read that letter first, then speak to an elder. We’d love to interact with you! Read more

An Announcement for the Body of Grace

Tonight during youth group, Shaun King announced his decision to take a full-time position with a local business here in Darke County. This has not been an easy decision for Shaun and his family; however, they believe the Lord has opened doors and provided a great opportunity for them. As elders, we have prayed and worked with Shaun throughout this process and would agree that this is of the Lord. Read more

PRAYER FOR BRADSHAWS  |  Continue to Pray for the Bradshaws as they are on a sabbatical for the next 7 weeks…grab more info at the Welcome Center if this is the first you are hearing of this. Pray that their time is restful, allows them to re-calibrate and that when they return to us on August 16 they would be able or re-enter ministry here at Grace well. While we will certainly miss them being around, we are excited to hear from them when they return from a season of prayer and rest. We are sure that God will bless their time away! Read more

How you can pray for the Bradshaw’s during their Sabbatical

Dear Greenville Grace,

If you haven’t already heard, my family and I have been gifted a two-month long sabbatical this summer. To put it mildly, we are amazed by the church’s generosity and feel honored, loved, and cared for.

That being said, I want to give you a picture about how we envision using our time away. My understanding is that a sabbatical is different than an extended vacation in that a sabbatical is meant to provide rest in the Lord, not simply rest from your work. I know, rest is always available to us, even in the busiest of seasons. But there is an advantage to removing yourself from your responsibilities with the specific aim of renewal. I can’t tell you how much I relish the opportunity to take this 60 day period and be still before my God. Read more

bradshaw-sabbatical

A Letter to the Body of Grace.

During our Vision Night, we expressed that one area the elders would like to focus on is Biblical rest. One specific application was offering the Bradshaw family an 8-week sabbatical. (If you missed our Vision Night, or would like to review, you can find it here.) As we quickly approach the start of their sabbatical, we want to remind/re-announce it to you, answer questions, and let you know how you can be involved.

Help Jason & Jodi have an Epic Sabbatical!

While rest is one of the goals of a sabbatical, Jason and Jodi are taking very intentional steps for it to be a time that impacts their ministry indefinitely. In the same way, their sabbatical will impact Greenville Grace in ways we can’t fully predict.

As was mentioned previously (click here to see the previous mention, click here to hear the Vision Night audio when we first presented the concept), the Bradshaws have a game plan with CrossPoint that will allow them to take full advantage of their sabbatical. The following are ways you can help support them and maximize the effect of the sabbatical upon all of us:

Sabbatical Q&A’s [yep, our phone’s a’ringin!]

As has been mentioned (here and here), gifting a pastor with a sabbatical is new territory for our church. We have sought advice and have asked questions. The following are questions we’ve heard since Vision Night and that we ourselves have asked. (If these questions do not address something you are wondering, please contact us. Someone else is probably wondering the same thing you are.)
