Dear Greenville Grace,
If you haven’t already heard, my family and I have been gifted a two-month long sabbatical this summer. To put it mildly, we are amazed by the church’s generosity and feel honored, loved, and cared for.
That being said, I want to give you a picture about how we envision using our time away. My understanding is that a sabbatical is different than an extended vacation in that a sabbatical is meant to provide rest in the Lord, not simply rest from your work. I know, rest is always available to us, even in the busiest of seasons. But there is an advantage to removing yourself from your responsibilities with the specific aim of renewal.
